I’d love if you got tickets to a stand up comedy show if I’m in your city. If not yet, add my bandsintown for when that happens. I also had an incredibly inspiring weekend performing poetry with characters and comedy that I plan to build on after this stand up tour in the fall. It’s a tough summer for everyone and quite frankly I’m not sure I could comfortably afford to attend my own comedy shows both financially and in anxiety. But this past weekend of book release performances inspired me to remember the power of a well meaning creative ceremony no matter how warped its been by capitalism. And I remember how fifteen years ago before I did stand up comedy, I would attend shows to feel better about a break up and how it worked like magic. Laughter, healing. The only problem was that while sitting in the crowd I had such an irrational fear of the comedian talking to me in front of everyone and asking what I did for a living that the only safe way to avoid that scenario was to become the comedian myself.

Please, please, please come to Denver. I bet Rise Comedy would love to have you.
"The only safe way to avoid that scenario was to become the comedian myself" is hilarious, Joshua. Especially considering it launched you into public speaking, which people at least joke about fearing more than death :)
